Laiss\u00e9e in situ, <em>Vedute<\/em> est devenue un point de rep\u00e8re, une \u0153uvre rendue publique par le regard permanent. \u00c0 l\u2019heure d\u2019une reconversion commerciale coordonn\u00e9e par le promoteur Oreas il semble int\u00e9ressant d\u2019interroger ce que dit l\u2019objet artistique \u00e0 la destin\u00e9e fragile.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" id=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans un b\u00e2timent comme l\u2019ancien mus\u00e9e de La Roche-sur-Yon, construit de 1878 \u00e0 1880 par l\u2019architecte voyer Auguste Boudaud, la question du passage du temps est structurante. Il y a quelque chose de la s\u00e9dimentation, de la succession des strates laiss\u00e9es par les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations et les fonctions. L\u00e0 est l\u2019identit\u00e9 du lieu&nbsp;; de sa fa\u00e7ade qui raconte le double usage initial (mus\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tage, tribunal d\u2019instance au rez-de-chauss\u00e9e) \u00e0 <em>Vedute<\/em>, en passant par le monument \u00e0 Paul Baudry<a id=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> ou le portail d\u2019entr\u00e9e moderne par l\u2019architecte Bertrand Lavigne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Du 10 avril au 5 juin 1999, Marie Drouet est invit\u00e9e par l\u2019artoth\u00e8que \u00e0 d\u00e9ployer son travail dans deux salles rectangulaires du b\u00e2timent du mus\u00e9e. Avec le titre <em>Vedute<\/em>, l\u2019artiste fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la vue d\u2019architecture telle qu\u2019abord\u00e9e par le th\u00e9oricien italien Leone Battista Alberti (1404-1472). Empreint notamment de liens avec <em>L\u2019invention du paysage<\/em> d\u2019Anne Cauquelin un texte de Guy Peralo accompagne le dispositif.<a href=\"#_ftn3\" id=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour Marie Drouet, il s\u2019agit de partir de l\u2019architecture du lieu et de concevoir une installation immersive faite d\u2019\u00e9crans de g\u00e9latine qui soulignent autant les particularit\u00e9s du b\u00e2timent qu\u2019ils refl\u00e8tent le jardin ext\u00e9rieur que l\u2019on ne voyait plus derri\u00e8re les \u00e9paisses cimaises d\u2019exposition qui obstruaient les fen\u00eatres. Ainsi, chaque visiteur compose ses fragments, ses d\u00e9ambulations, ses <em>vedute<\/em> de paysages int\u00e9rieurs et ext\u00e9rieurs. Comme un appel d\u00e8s l\u2019entr\u00e9e dans le b\u00e2timent, six lettres de g\u00e9latine ajour\u00e9e annoncent alors l\u2019exposition. Elles sont rest\u00e9es&nbsp;; parce que la notion de <em>vedute <\/em>se rattache \u00e0 ce qui est vu tout comme aux images mentales suscit\u00e9es par les diff\u00e9rentes formes d\u2019art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-1151x1536.jpg 1151w, https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-1535x2048.jpg 1535w, https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-1200x1601.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-1980x2641.jpg 1980w, https:\/\/williamchevillon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_6159-scaled.jpg 1919w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Au m\u00eame titre que le monument \u00e0 Paul Baudry qui sera pr\u00e9serv\u00e9, <em>Vedute<\/em> fait corps avec le patrimoine qui est aujourd\u2019hui transform\u00e9 et restaur\u00e9 dans le cadre d\u2019un changement d\u2019usage. Plus encore, il est int\u00e9ressant d\u2019op\u00e9rer un croisement avec le programme ornemental de l\u2019ancien h\u00f4tel de ville qui sera valoris\u00e9 \u00e0 juste raison. Des fragments \u00e9clectiques<a href=\"#_ftn4\" id=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a> d\u2019un autre temps qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recouverts avant que les entreprises les remettent r\u00e9cemment au jour. Si ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u00e9coratifs semblent avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7us pour \u00eatre p\u00e9rennes, la vision d\u2019il y a cinquante ans en avait jug\u00e9 autrement. Le caract\u00e8re temporaire ou d\u00e9finitif de l\u2019objet artistique est une notion \u00e9minemment subjective autant que variable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Vedute<\/em> est une \u0153uvre con\u00e7ue strictement pour l\u2019espace du bel escalier. C\u2019est parce qu\u2019elle est dans la perspective naturelle du lieu qu\u2019elle est devenue embl\u00e9matique. En outre, le lettrage de g\u00e9latine laisse appara\u00eetre les cimes du jardin tandis que celles-ci se refl\u00e8tent sur le vitrage obscurci quand on le regarde depuis l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur. En regard du parc l\u2019\u0153uvre se fait donc ouverte sur la ville. Le visiteur, parmi des milliers d\u2019autres, voyait <em>Vedute<\/em> lors de chaque passage au mus\u00e9e. Et m\u00eame lorsque la porte \u00e9tait ferm\u00e9e <em>Vedute<\/em> se r\u00e9v\u00e9lait le visage ext\u00e9rieur du lieu. Il s\u2019agit l\u00e0 d\u2019une \u0153uvre temporaire qui est devenue une part de l\u2019identit\u00e9 du b\u00e2timent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voil\u00e0 un facteur qui ne se contr\u00f4le pas&nbsp;; c\u2019est par l\u2019appropriation quotidienne que <em>Vedute<\/em> est rest\u00e9e et qu\u2019elle s\u2019est mue en \u0153uvre publique. C\u2019est par le regard des spectateurs depuis 1999 que <em>Vedute <\/em>est devenue un jalon dans l\u2019histoire du lieu, comme il y en aura d\u2019autres dans les mois et ann\u00e9es qui viendront. Un faisceau d\u2019intuitions sugg\u00e8re que la place de cette \u0153uvre est en surplomb de l\u2019escalier. Elle y a v\u00e9cu, puisse-t-elle y subsister. Et si elle dispara\u00eet on pourra se dire que c\u2019est beau d\u2019avoir c\u00f4toy\u00e9 une ouverture sur le paysage qui a demeur\u00e9 vingt-quatre ans de plus que les deux mois initialement envisag\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>William Chevillon, le 18 juin 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;L\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement a eu lieu. L&rsquo;\u00e9tat du ch\u00e2ssis initial ne permet pas une r\u00e9installation in-situ. L&rsquo;id\u00e9e d&rsquo;une reproduction \u00e0 l&rsquo;identique (peu co\u00fbteuse compte-tenu des moyens actuels) a \u00e9t\u00e9 soumise au promoteur. Le monument \u00e0 Paul Baudry est pr\u00e9serv\u00e9 et prot\u00e9g\u00e9 de fait, le portail de Bertrand Lavigne est conserv\u00e9, les d\u00e9cors de l&rsquo;ancien h\u00f4tel de Ville sont retrouv\u00e9s et mis en avant. Vedute trouve sa place dans ce lieu \u00e0 l&rsquo;identit\u00e9 forte. Il s\u2019agit de porter le regard sur un fait artistique significatif des vingt-quatre derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref2\" id=\"_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> R\u00e9alisation d\u2019Ambroise Baudry et Paul Dubois (1889). Dans le cadre d\u2019un accord entre Ambroise Baudry et le maire St\u00e9phane Guillem\u00e9 (correspondance du 1<sup>er<\/sup> avril 1889 conserv\u00e9e aux archives municipales), un petit monument \u00e0 Paul Baudry avec buste a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9rig\u00e9 dans le vestibule de l\u2019h\u00f4tel de ville voisin. R\u00e9alis\u00e9 notamment \u00e0 partir d\u2019\u00e9preuves de pl\u00e2tre livr\u00e9es par la maison Barbedienne, cet \u00e9dicule a disparu il y a plusieurs d\u00e9cennies, vraisemblablement \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1960.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"_ftn3\" href=\"#_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a> Marie Drouet, Guy Peralo, <em>Vedute<\/em>, 1999, La Roche-sur-Yon, imprimerie municipale, 8 p.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref4\" id=\"_ftn4\">[4]<\/a> \u00c0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1880 le d\u00e9corateur Pierre Chapuis se voit confier un important chantier de r\u00e9novation de salles de l\u2019h\u00f4tel de ville. Ce programme, compos\u00e9 de diff\u00e9rents supports peints et d\u00e9cors en relief, est substitu\u00e9 en 1969 par un ensemble de parements modernes.
